One of the best unintentional collaborations and learning experiences for me as a young artist was finding an old painting my mother had discarded in her studio. I picked it up, examined the half finished horse portrait and decided to complete it myself using my set of tempera paints. I examined her colours and deconstructed them visually to be mixed with the limited palette I had. Little did I know at the time that this would be a massive learning curve for my developing mind!
I love the bravery, and honesty that illustrator Mica Angela Hendricks exhibits in this piece about her opening her heart and her sketchbook to her daughter. What a wonderful gift and the results are a fantastic collaboration of artistic and creative styles.
