"Whether I am working on a personal or corporate commission in oil, watercolour, pencil or pastel, my objective is to get at the heart of my subject matter. My work reflects my rural roots and is a collision of two worlds: Realism and Expressionism. Realism allows me to affect the cerebral that is human nature – our desire to recognize a shape, place and subject. Expressionism and the the strokes, drips and splatter are the result of an intuitive relation to the medium at hand, allowing me to infuse my own perspective & trigger the emotional, offering a more ephemeral level of connectivity – nostalgia, resilience, desire, loss, love."
